If you’re a man, you’re probably wondering why Facebook is all coloured in its status updates today. If you’re a woman, you’ve probably got a message asking you to post your bra colour – and nothing else – as your Facebook status to keep the men confused.
This odd chain has suddenly gone viral, and Facebook homepages are dotted with racy words such as ‘Red’, ‘Gold and Black’, ‘Nothing’ and ‘Strapless and Lacy’.
Why have perfectly demure people taken to this trend? Although no one can confirm this yet, a Detroit Blog suggests that the trend was initiated by some women in Detroit looking to spread breast cancer awareness.
Most people suspected that the message was sent by Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, who has previously used Facebook gifts, groups and events for raising breast cancer awareness, but Andrea Rader, a spokeswoman for the foundation, denied it. However, she said the foundation supported whoever was behind the movement, as “Facebook is a terrific tool to garner awareness. We just want people to be educated, and grab a mammogram.”
