Retweet posts on Facebook now

16 Jan

Facebook continues with what experts are calling ‘Twitterification’, launching its own version of Twitter’s extremely popular re-tweet feature this evening.

Facebook has added a ‘Share’ button to posted links, which allows you to re-post someone else’s link to your own stream. It adds a ‘via’ and attributes the original poster, as shown in the screenshot below.

The feature seems to be live for everyone already. To try it, just click on the ‘Share’ button that has appeared under the links posted in your news feed. You should be able to see it posted onto your profile, with a (via [your friend’s name with a link to their profile]) after the headline.

There is also an option to remove the ‘via’, and post the link without attribution.

Currently, the feature works only for posted links, but it might evolve into sharing status updates, wall posts, or other items that can currently tag people with the @Tag feature.
